COSTA MESA — Karlee Riggs, Katherine Wichner and Allie Grant each had six kills to lead the Pirates to a 25-16, 25-21, 25-6 Orange Empire Conference win Wednesday.

Sophomore setter Kehaulani Vegas dished out 34 assists, while the combo of Wichner and Andi Frisina combined for 21 digs for OCC (9-1, 4-0 in conference), which won its fifth straight match.

Corinne Bulger was strong in the middle, notching four total blocks.

The Dons are 1-9, 0-4.

OCC plays at Golden West Friday at 6 p.m.

UC Irvine 5, UC Riverside 1

RIVERSIDE - The Anteaters won their fourth straight Big West Conference game Wednesday night.

Miguel Ibarra, Christian Hernandez, Norby Rodriguez and Christopher Santana scored a goal each for UCI (12-2, 4-1 in conference).

UCR is 6-5-1, 1-3.

COSTA MESA — The Lions’ Lauren Skachenko scored her ninth goal of the season in the 12th minute of the Golden State Athletic Conference game Wednesday.

PLNU (12-0-1, 4-0 in conference), ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, tied it up in the 57th minute and scored the game-winner in the 95th minute.

Gabriela Valles had the assist for Vanguard (9-2-1, 1-2-1).

Price’s ‘Give ‘Em Five’ Intercollegiate

Las Cruces, NM — UC Irvine finished in a tie for ninth place Wednesday at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.

UCI had a final round of 299 to join SMU in a tie for ninth with a 54-hole total of 903 (302-302-299). Baylor captured the team title with a score of 860 (288-286-286). Idaho’s Kayla Montellaro earned medalist honors with a five-under par 211 (70-70-71).

Freshman Michelle Yang led the tournament field with 46 pars and finished in a tie for 24th, pacing UCI with a three-round total of 223 (74-73-76).

Senior Lalita Patipaksiri fired an even-par 72 Wednesday and tied for 33rd after carding a 225 (73-80-72). Patipaksiri’s final round of 72 was her lowest round of the season and the best by an Anteater during the tournament. Sophomore Ronnie Valerio was tied for 45th at 229 (77-77-75), while freshman Sarah Baek was tied for 49th with a score of 230 (78-76-76) and sophomore Taryn Yee recorded a three-day total of 234 (79-76-79) to finish in a tie for 60th.

Next, UCI will travel to the Las Vegas Collegiate at the Boulder Creek Golf Course Oct. 24-26.
