CORONA DEL MAR — The Corona del Mar High boys’ tennis team used a dominant doubles performance to beat Temple City, 15-3, in a CIF Southern Section Division I second-round match Friday.

The No. 3-seeded Sea Kings (17-5) advance to Tuesday’s quarterfinals, when they’ll play at Harvard-Westlake in North Hollywood. Harvard-Westlake, which like CdM had two straight home matches to open the playoffs, beat Calabasas, 15-3, and won the pre-match coin flip to host the quarterfinal match.

Against Temple City, CdM swept in doubles for the second straight match in the playoffs, dropping just nine games.

CdM not in playoffs

The Sea Kings will not be in the CIF playoffs for the first time since 2008, Coach John Emme said Friday.

CdM tied for fourth in the Pacific Coast League and missed out on an at-large bid because University beat the Sea Kings in the season series.

CdM has made the playoffs in 12 of the 14 seasons under Emme.
