High School Roundup: Knapp wins third straight OCL title

Orange Coast League Individual Finals
LONG BEACH — Estancia High senior Jake Knapp captured the league title for the third straight year at Skylinks Golf Course Tuesday.
Knapp, bound for UCLA, shot 13-under-par 131 over the two-day event, a 66 on Monday and a 65 on Tuesday on the par-72 course.
Estancia’s Aaron Wood finished fourth, 74-74—148.
Knapp and Wood advanced to the CIF Southern Section Southern Individual Regional May 14 at Skylinks.
Courtland Lee shot 75-76—151 and finished sixth to earn first-team all-league honors with Knapp and Wood.
Costa Mesa’s Nelson Negrillo (seventh, 76-83—159), Chris Pawinski (10th, 77-84—161), as well as Estancia’s Jake Stone (11th, 79-82—161) and Davin Ortiz (12th, 78-91—169) made second-team all-league.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior outside hitter Chris Zadra had 11 kills and six digs to lead the Academy League champions to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-18 win Tuesday.
Junior middle blocker Creagan Lydon added eight kills and two blocks and junior setter Kent Kawaguchi had 22 assists and three kills for Sage Hill (19-10, 9-1 in league), ranked No. 6 in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 coaches’ poll.

CORONA DEL MAR — Parker Brown had seven kills, five digs, five aces to help the Sea Kings win, 25-12, 25-13, 25-22, and go undefeated in the Pacific Coast League Tuesday.
Kevin Gordinier added seven kills and four digs, Jack Reed had six kills, Joe Ctvrtlik had 17 assists and Thomas Hunter had 11 assists for CdM (21-6, 10-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 coaches’ poll.
The Sea Kings play at Newport Harbor in the Battle of the Bay Friday night at approximately 6.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Kevin Rakestraw had 10 kills to help the Sailors to a 25-19, 25-14, 25-20 win in their Sunset League finale Tuesday.
Peirce Moore had six kills, Griffin Leggett had nine digs and Max Richley had six digs for Newport Harbor (21-8, 8-2 in league).
The Sailors play host to rival Corona del Mar Friday night.

COSTA MESA — Andres Hernandez went four for five with three runs batted in, two runs scored, a double and a stolen base to help the Eagles clinch a playoff spot after their Orange Coast League win Tuesday.
Ben Beck (four for five, three runs, RBI, two stolen bases), Brodie Pearce (three for four, four runs, three RBIs, two triples), Alex Trancoso (two for four, two RBIS, run, double), Sho Watanabe (two for two), Tyler Rios (one for three, three runs, two RBIs, stolen base) and Steven Macias (one for four, RBI, run, triple) contributed to Estancia’s 20-hit attack.
Macias (7-2) struck out five and gave up two hits and no walks over five innings.
Estancia (14-8, 9-3 in league) plays at Saddleback Friday at 3:15 p.m.
