IRVINE — Junior Jordan Fox went five for five with three runs batted in and teammates D.J. Crumlich, Brian Hernandez and Drew Hillman each drove in four runs for the host Anteaters in the finale of the MLB Urban Invitational on Sunday.
Fox and Drew Sandler had three RBIs apiece.
Junior Crosby Slaught allowed one hit and struck out a career-high eight in five innings to earn his second win of the season.
Matt Whitehouse (four strikeouts in two innings), Sebastian Santos and Brian Hernandez finished up to complete the shutout.
UCI pitchers’ 16 strikeouts tied a school record.
UCI (7-0) visits Saint Mary’s for a three-game nonconference series beginning Friday.
