High School Roundup: Murphy takes fourth at wrestling tourney

TUSTIN — Newport Harbor High senior Mason Murphy (170 pounds) placed fourth at Tustin High Saturday.
He went 2-2 on Saturday and finished 5-2 in the tournament that featured over 60 schools.
Junior James Pilz (160) went 1-1 on Saturday and 4-2 in the tournament. He narrowly missed the medal rounds with a 9-7 loss in his final consolation match.

Newport Harbor 8, The Bishop’s 2
NEWPORT BEACH — Sailors junior Christina O’Beck had three goals, two steals and an assist in the nonleague match Saturday at Newport Harbor High.
Elissia Schilling scored twice, while Heidi Fults, Carolyn Smith and Rachel Whitelegge added goals for Newport Harbor (8-3). Carly Chrsitian had two steals and two assists, and Avery Peterson also had two assists.
Newport Harbor led just 3-2 at halftime, but scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to break the game open.
Cleo Harrington made 10 saves for the Sailors, who play host to Fountain Valley in a Sunset League match Wednesday at 7:10 p.m.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Sage Hill 55, Calvary Chapel of Las Vegas 48
LAS VEGAS — Sophomore guard CJ McCord scored 28 points for the Lightning in a consolation game of the Las Vegas Invitational Saturday.
Sophomore forward Tyler Hague added seven points for Sage Hill (7-8), which went 2-2 in the tournament.
The Lightning open Academy League play Tuesday at Crean Lutheran.
