High School Roundup: Summer seasons in full swing

The Laguna Beach High baseball team opened its summer season schedule Tuesday in Orange and split a doubleheader with Orange Lutheran at Hart Park.

Laguna won the opener by an unofficial score of 5-3. The Lancers took the nightcap, 5-2. Laguna Coach Mike Bair said “standouts” in the game for the Breakers were Dante Faicchio and Connor Coscino.

The Breakers played Tuesday at Sunny Hills. The score wasn’t available at press time.

They play a 5 p.m. game Monday and play their summer home opener hosting Beckman at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Basketball

The Laguna boys’ varsity team, which started summer play 7-1, dropped contests this week to Corona del Mar Monday and Saddleback Valley Christian (final scores not kept).

The Laguna girls’ basketball program isn’t competing in summer league play this year, Coach Mark Lewis said.

Football

The 56th annual Orange County All-Star Football Game is Thursday (July 9) at Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium. Kickoff is 7:15 p.m.

Tickets are $10. A FanFest will be held prior to the game in the stadium parking lot and includes an NFL players autograph session, a car show, sponsor exhibits, food and music.

Coaches for the game are Mike Enright (Rancho Alamitos) for the North, and Ernie Bucher (Capistrano Valley) for the South.
