Briefs: McConnell’s USA White men’s water polo team wins four straight
The USA White men’s water polo team, which includes Nolan McConnell of Laguna Beach, won all four of its games last weekend during USA Water Polo Men’s National League play at Miramonte High in Orinda.
Three USA teams -- Red (Coach Alex Rodriguez), White (Coach Jack Kocur), and Blue (Brett Ormsby), compete against four club teams -- the New York Athletic Club, the Olympic Club, International Water Polo Club and Alumni Water Polo Club, in National League competition.
In games played Saturday, USA White defeated USA Blue in a shootout, 13-11. McConnell scored once with an assist. He scored twice in a later game against Alumni, a 12-9 victory for USA White. In Sunday action, McConnell had a goal and assist in USA White’s 10-9 win over International, and scored a game-high three goals in a 10-9 win over USA Red.
The third weekend of the National League season returns to Southern California March 7-8.

Volleyball tourney dates announced
Several dates have been announced for Laguna Open Beach Volleyball for its 2015 season.
The first tournament, the Laguna Women’s Open, will be held May 9. Other upcoming tournaments include: Laguna Men’s Open, June 6-7; Girls’ 16-and-Under Tournament, July 9; Girls’ 14-and-Under Tournament, July 10; King and Queen tournaments (October, TBA); Holiday 4-Man Tournament (December, TBA). All tournaments will be played at Main Beach.
