Strong Breakers girls’ soccer team returns

New heights were reached last year by the Laguna Beach High girls’ soccer program.

The 2011-12 Breakers achieved a 14-game unbeaten streak that took them to their first league title. Coach Bill Rolfing has a solid nucleus returning from that team although the Breakers have big shoes to fill with the departure of Orange Coast League MVP and All-CIF player, Marina Paul who is playing (midfield) at Georgetown University.

Laguna prided itself on defense last year. During its 14-game streak, the Breakers surrendered only five goals. Goalie Kylie George allowed only three goals in 10 league matches last year and was named second-team all-league as a freshman.

The Breakers will play three games over two days starting Friday at the Ocean View Winter Classic. During winter break, they will make their annual trek to the Palm Springs area to play three nonleague matches.
