Hamilton nets another title
Teague Hamilton of Laguna Beach won his division title June 17 at the Laguna Niguel Junior Open Tennis Tournament. The 15-year-old, who completed his sophomore year at Laguna Beach High last month, didn’t drop a set in the event. He defeated 15-year-old Chase Masciorini, 6-4, 6-4, in the final.
Hamilton also teamed with his sister, Kira, an incoming freshman at Laguna Beach High, in 16-and-under mixed doubles. The pair reached the final, where they lost a close match to Noor Tomay Shepers and Alex Tran, 3-6, 7-6, 10-8.

Pavlik, Kropp win beach volleyball event
Whitney Pavlik of Laguna Beach and teammate Jenny Kropp of Manhattan Beach went undefeated last weekend to capture the Women’s Open division title at the Corona Light tournament at Seaside Heights, N.J. The duo defeated Kristin Batt (Venica, Fla.) and Brooke Sweat (Estero, Fla.), 21-18, 22-24, 15-6, in Sunday’s final.
The two earned $7,500 for their win and an automatic berth in the U.S. Open of Beach Volleyball tournament in September.

Lewis fourth at Irwindale
Michael Lewis, of Laguna Beach topped off his three-week return trip home to the U.S. with a strong performance at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday while driving the High Point Racing No. 59 Late Model stock car to a fourth-place finish.
Lewis returns to Italy this week to resume his Formula 3 Italia testing and race program. He is ranked third in the Formula 3 Italia Championship and second in the Rookie Championship. Lewis’ next Formula 3 race will be at the Imola Circuit on July 16 and 17.

Breakers football starts summer play
The Laguna Beach High football team begins its summer league schedule Thursday against Lakewood and University at Huntington Beach High. The Breakers, under first-year Coach Mike Churchill, also play summer ball at El Toro and at home against Laguna Hills and Patriot. Starting time for all four dates is 5 p.m.
