Beach tourney returns Saturday
The Laguna Open Volleyball Tournament resumes Saturday with the 54th annual Men’s Open. The tournament is seeking volunteers to serve as line judges during pool play and the playoffs. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt, gift certificate and front row seats to the tournament. Competition will take place in both AAA and Open level divisions.
Tournament action continues Sunday (June 17) with the Laguna King and Queen of the Beach.
The city’s remaining summer volleyball schedule is as follows: Saturday: Laguna Open Men’s; Sunday: Laguna King and Queen of the Beach; July 5: Girls’ 14-and-Under Doubles; July 12: Girls 16U Doubles. Other upcoming tournaments scheduled include a men’s and women’s tournament in October, and the Polar Bear Men’s tournament in December.

Tennis, swim camps available
The Champions for Life Tennis and Swim Camp, and summer tennis workouts for Junior Tournament Players, both start June 25 and run through Aug. 13 at Alta Laguna Park in Laguna Beach.

Laguna baseball camp starts July 10
Laguna Beach High’s baseball program will host a camp for incoming players (grades 7-8) starting July 10 at Skipper Carrillo Field. The camp runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays through July 26. The cost is $180 per camper.

Softball summer academy taking registration
Laguna Beach High softball Coach Alan Ludloff and collegiate player Kandy Francis will lead the Summer Softball Academy, starting July 10 at Thurston Middle School in Laguna Beach.
The camp runs from 1 to 3 p.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, through Aug. 9, and has sessions for players ages 7 to 12 and 13 to 18. Space is limited.

Lance Stewart will instruct a series of summertime volleyball camps starting in July. Panaro to head boys’ volleyball camp
A summer volleyball camp run by Laguna Beach High boys’ volleyball Coach Scott Panaro starts Aug. 6. The dates for the three camps are Aug. 6-9, Aug. 13-16 and Aug. 20-23.
Camps are from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dugger Gym on the Laguna campus and are open to players grades six through 12. The cost is $165 per camp. Registration information can be found at https://www.lagunabeachcity.net.
