The 2011 season is in full swing this week for the Laguna Beach boys’ golf team, which after three matches through Wednesday was 2-1

Laguna scored a 203-241 victory over Costa Mesa on Monday in its opener at Ben Brown’s Golf Course, a match where senior Andrew Palmer, a returning all-league player, was low medalist with a 33.

On Tuesday, the Breakers took on Tesoro in Aliso Viejo and lost to the Titans, 200-228. They came back Wednesday to post a 215-247 win over host Loara at Dad Miller Gold Course in Anaheim. Mossimo Giau was low medalist at 39 for Laguna.

The Breakers return Monday to Ben Brown to face Orange (2:30 p.m.). Next Thursday, they’ll host Ocean View (2:15 p.m.) at Aliso Viejo Country Club.

The Breakers

Head coach: Scott Finn (eighth year)

Coaching staff: Rob Reinhorn

Returning golfers: Andrew Palmer, Sr.; Tim Peterson, Jr.: Beau Bourne, Jr.

2010 results: Laguna won a league title for the third consecutive year in 2010 and “shot well,” Finn said, at the CIF team finals at Tijeras Creek but fell short of advancing.

Coach’s outlook: “We lost three seniors last year, so it’s important for the remaining guys to step up and fill those vacant spots,” Finn said. “Our team has great chemistry, they all get along great and I look forward to seeing how they perform.”
