Girls’ Track and Field Preview: Laguna travels to Stanford, Arcadia meets
The Laguna Beach girls’ track and field season is underway, and the Breakers have two upcoming invitationals on their slate.
The Breakers return all but Brielle Budroe, who is now running at Point Loma Nazarene University, from a 2014 team that won the Orange Coast League title and placed sixth in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 team standings at the CIF Finals meet last May. Among the returnees is senior Janie Crawford, who earned a CIF runner-up finish in the girls’ 800 meters, and junior Coco Putnam, who set a school record in the 300 meters.
“I think it’s going to be an exciting year,” Coach Steve Lalim said. “I’m looking forward to see what the girls can do.”
The Breakers will host their annual Laguna Beach Trophy Invite later this month, and new to the schedule are big invitational meets at Stanford University and Arcadia in consecutive weekends in April.
