Local NJB team caps undefeated season

The Laguna Beach girls’ Division 2 (5th/6th grade) team handed San Clemente a 49-14 loss Saturday to cap an undefeated season.

The game was never in doubt as Laguna stormed to a big lead and coasted to the win. Nicole Davidson had one of her “best games of the year,” and Kirsten Landsiedel and Madison Sinclair also had “big games,” Coach Eric Lucas said.

Laguna completed its regular season 10-0.

“I’m really proud of these girls,” Lucas said. “This was one of the hardest-working, least selfish teams I have ever coached. They were very good on both ends of the floor and that is what made them so difficult to play against.”

Laguna will compete the next two weekends in the NJB Championship Tournament and will play first-place teams from other cities starting Saturday.

The girls’ Division 2 team is: Nicole Davidson, Kirsten Landsiedel, Madison Sinclair, Sophia Lucas, Rachel Kenney, Isabel Mansour and Lexi McKeown.
