Laguna’s Paul named All-CIF
Laguna Beach’s Chris Paul was named to the 2010 All-CIF Southern Section Southern Division team.
Paul, a senior who played wide receiver, defensive back and handled kick return duties, was one of five receivers name to the division’s offensive team.
He joined Zack Bateman and Matt Carlyle of Estancia, Ricardo Rosas (Saddleback) and Terry Williams (Godinez), from the Orange Coast League to be named to the Southern Division team.
Paul also was an All-CIF pick at the conclusion of the 2009 season.
Quarterback Josh Webb and Coach Willy Puga of division champion Garden Grove were named Offensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively. The Defensive Player of the Year honor went to linebacker Preston Risser of Corona del Mar.

Girls’ soccer team struggles in league
The Laguna Beach girls’ soccer team found the going tough in its past two Orange Coast League outings, falling, 4-0 on Jan. 27 to visiting Estancia and most recently dropped a 3-0 match Tuesday to Calvary Chapel at Centennial Park in Santa Ana.
The setbacks dropped the Breakers to 1-5 in league.
Laguna ends league play with two games next week. First, the Breakers host Costa Mesa at 6:15 p.m. Monday and then close out their regular-season schedule with a 3:15 p.m. Wednesday game at Saddleback.
Laguna’s boys’ soccer team wraps up league and regular-season play with three games in the next seven days, beginning with a 3:15 p.m. game today against Godinez at Centennial Park in Santa Ana. The Breakers host Costa Mesa on Tuesday (6:15 p.m.) at Guyer Field and have a Thursday road game (3 p.m.) at Saddleback.

Breakers drop a spot in CIF girls’ water polo
The Laguna Beach girls’ water polo team dropped a spot in the latest CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll. The Breakers, ranked sixth last week, fell to No. 7 following a Jan. 21 loss at Foothill.
The Knights, meanwhile, switched places in the poll with the Breakers. Dos Pueblos is No. 1, followed by Los Alamitos, Santa Barbara, Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, Foothill, Laguna Beach, Edison, Fountain Valley and San Marcos.
No other Laguna winter teams were included in the rankings for boys’ and girls’ basketball and boys’ and girls’ soccer.

All Court Tennis now registering Junior players
All Court Tennis is registering players for its spring Junior Team Tennis teams. Players can register in 10-, 12- and 14-and-Under divisions, as well as at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
