Trevor Scott has already pitched at Angel Stadium of Anaheim once this season. He allowed no earned runs in 5 1/3 innings on March 21, helping the Estancia High baseball team beat rival Costa Mesa in the Halo Classic.

Scott will make just one pitch when he returns to Angel Stadium later this month, but it also will be extremely significant.

The Angels have asked Scott to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before their game against the Chicago White Sox on June 27.

Scott, who graduated from Estancia last week, was a senior leader in a historic season for Estancia. He finished the season 11-1 with a 1.29 earned-run average, helping Estancia (31-5) win the CIF Southern Section Division 6 title and the CIF Southern California Regional Division V crown.

Scott was one of two pitching aces for the Eagles, along with sophomore Andrew Mits. He also hit .345 with four doubles and a home run, and earned second-team All-Orange Coast League and first-team All-CIF Division 6 honors.

“We felt like our kids were deserving of this opportunity,” Estancia baseball booster president Stephanie Joyce said in a text message. “So we reached out though several different outlets and contacts until we found someone willing to go to the right people within the Angels organization. I think it’s important to show the world that kids from a Title 1 school who are consistently undervalued are capable of huge things and deserve a huge stage to celebrate that achievement.”

Scott will return to the big stage, and he will also have a cheering section at the Big A. Tickets to the June 27 game are free for all CIF rostered players and coaches of Estancia baseball, and a block of discounted field level tickets have been set aside for all Eagle families, friends, and fans.

Field level all-star seats for the game are $30 and can be purchased by emailing [email protected], or calling Joyce at (949) 515-4683, by June 22.
