High School Roundup: Corona del Mar football rolls past Paramount

Junior quarterback David Rasor threw five first-half touchdown passes to lead the Corona del Mar High School football team to a 56-8 win over Paramount in a nonleague game on Friday night at Davidson Field.

Rasor threw all of his touchdown passes in the first quarter. Three went to John Tipton, and one each to Max Lane and Cooper Hoch.

Colin Pene and backup quarterback Kaleb Annette each had rushing touchdowns for CdM (2-0), as did McGuire Schimm.

Corona del Mar hosts Palos Verdes (0-1) in a battle of the Sea Kings on Sept. 3 at Davidson Field.

Edison 35, Clovis North 13: Troy Fletcher rushed for 151 yards and five touchdowns, as the Chargers picked up their first win of the season Friday in a nonleague game at Huntington Beach High School.

Parker Awad completed 11 of 18 passes for 227 yards. Nico Brown made four grabs for 102 yards for Edison (1-1).

Austin Grbic led the Chargers defensively with 10 tackles and 1½ sacks. Peyton Gregory added nine tackles, four of which resulted in lost yardage. Hudson Letterman also had nine tackles.

Edison takes on Orange Lutheran on Sept. 3 at Orange Coast College.

El Dorado 21, Fountain Valley 6: Ben Pham had a second-quarter rushing touchdown for the Barons in Friday’s nonleague game at Ocean View High School.

Fountain Valley (1-1) trailed 7-6 at halftime but was blanked in the second half by El Dorado, which improved to 2-0.

Fountain Valley has a road game against El Toro on Sept. 3.

Dana Hills 35, Laguna Beach 7: The host Dolphins held the Breakers off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter, when quarterback Will Bingham had a 14-yard rushing touchdown for Laguna Beach (1-1) in Friday’s nonleague game.

Dana Hills outgained Laguna Beach 400-99 on yards from scrimmage in the contest, which was the season opener for the Dolphins.

Laguna Beach trailed 35-0 at halftime.

The Breakers travel to face Northwood on Sept. 3 at Irvine High School.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Estancia 3, Loara 0: The host Eagles ran their season-opening winning streak to four matches with a 25-23, 25-18, 25-15 sweep in nonleague play on Friday.
