Golden West baseball players commit to four-year programs
The Golden West College baseball team had seven players commit to a four-year university.
Outfielder Vinny Tosti is bound for Arizona State, and catcher Enrique Bennett and pitcher Bryce Ruggeroli are both headed to UNLV. The others are outfielder Seth Nelson (San Jose State), infielder Luke Chung (Long Beach State), third baseman Ely Stuart (UC Riverside) and catcher Anthony Marquez (Chico State).
Tosti, a sophomore, led the team with a .429 batting average. He also showcased his speed with three triples and eight stolen bases in 21 games played.
Bennett hit .402 and had nine doubles and 22 runs batted in, both team-high totals.
Ruggeroli logged a team-high 36 innings. He went 3-1 with a 2.25 earned run average in seven starts. He racked up 41 strikeouts and surrendered 21 walks.
Nelson, a power-hitter, slugged four home runs, seven doubles and four triples to go with 20 RBIs.
Chung was a run-producer for Golden West. He was second on the team with 21 RBIs while also sporting a .283 batting average.
Stuart drove in 12 runs and scored 11 runs.
Marquez displayed a good eye at the plate, drawing nine walks against just seven strikeouts.
