Estancia’s Marcos Arreola shares Orange Coast League Offensive MVP in boys’ soccer
Estancia High senior striker Marcos Arreola shared Orange Coast League Offensive MVP honors in boys’ soccer.
Arreola scored 12 goals and had six assists this season for the Eagles (5-12-7, 4-2-4 in league), who finished in third place in the league and lost 4-0 to La Habra in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.
Arreola split the Offensive MVP award with senior forward Omar Hernandez of second-place Saddleback (10-8-4, 5-3-2).
Estancia senior defender Chris Ayala, junior midfielder JR Garcia and freshman defender Chris Sollano earned first-team all-league honors.
Costa Mesa had senior goalkeeper Walter Olmedo and senior midfielder Alan Morales selected to the first team.
Garcia contributed four assists for the Eagles. Sollano had one goal and one assist.
Estancia’s second-team honorees were sophomore forward Felix Solis and freshman goalkeeper Cesar Pedroza.
Costa Mesa senior midfielder Marco Castrejon and junior forward Ethan Ervey made the second team.
The Mustangs went 4-10-8 overall and 2-3-5 in league play, ending the season in fifth place.
Santa Ana senior center midfielder Ceasar Zamora was named the Orange Coast League MVP after leading the Saints (20-4-3, 8-0-2) to the league title.
Senior center midfielder Omar Calderon of fourth-place Orange (11-9-4, 3-4-3) was named the Defensive MVP.
