College Roundup: Golden West baseball tops Glendale
Jesse Fonteboa was two for four with a triple and three runs batted in, and the Golden West College baseball team beat Glendale 10-5 in a nonconference home game Wednesday.
Vinny Tosti had three hits and two runs scored for the Rustlers (9-6). Logan Gallina had two hits and three RBIs, and Enrique Bennett also had two hits and scored twice.
Steven Salazar (1-0) allowed two earned runs in five innings for the Rustlers, walking one and striking out six.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Orange Coast 3, Grossmont 1: The Pirates improved to 3-4 after Wednesday’s 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20 nonconference home win.
OCC hosts San Diego Mesa on Friday at 6 p.m.
SOFTBALL
Vanguard 1, Marymount California 0: Ashley Klopfenstein drove in the game’s only run with a double in the sixth inning in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.
Vanessa Dwyer recorded a strikeout to end the game with the tying run at third base.
Vanguard improved to 16-4 overall.
In the first game, the Lions lost 5-3. Belle Herrera went three for five with a triple, a run scored and RBI.
Fullerton 12, Golden West 0 (five innings): Kaylee Canto and Jasmine Vasquez had the lone hits for the Rustlers in Wednesday’s nonconference home game.
Golden West fell to 8-7 overall.
