College Roundup: Vanguard men’s volleyball sweeps at Ottawa

Kyle Anema had 14 kills for the Vanguard University men’s volleyball team in Friday’s 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 Golden State Athletic Conference road sweep over Ottawa of Arizona.

Bryce Thompson had 30 assists and nine digs for Vanguard (4-1, 2-0 in conference).

The Lions play at Arizona Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m.

BASEBALL

University of Redlands 10, Vanguard 2: Aki Buckson, Isaiah Lee and Josh Weeks all had two hits for the Lions in Friday’s nonconference road game.

Vanguard (4-1) suffered its first loss of the season.

Chaffey 3, Golden West 2: Left fielder Enrique Bennett and center fielder Vinny Tosti each had a run batted in for the host Rustlers on Friday in a nonconference game.

Catcher Logan Gallina also had two hits, including a double, for Golden West (2-2).

SOFTBALL

College of the Canyons 8, Orange Coast 0: Shortstop Ally Cisneros collected the only hit for the Pirates on Friday in a nonconference game at home.

Orange Coast is now 1-1 overall.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Irvine Valley 82, Golden West 61: Eric Watson had 19 points and six rebounds to lead the Rustlers on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference game at home.

Francis Dogani scored 16 points off the bench for Golden West (3-20, 1-10). John Stillgess had seven points, and Tyrique Wilson added six points.

Riverside 96, Orange Coast 77: Jonathan Ileleji had 26 points to lead the host Pirates on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference game.

Myles Woods added 24 points, five rebounds and four assists for Orange Coast (3-19, 1-10). Andres Ortega provided 15 points, five assists and three steals. Aundrel Pua chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Irvine Valley 89, Golden West 41: Abigail Guerrero paced the host Rustlers with 13 points on Friday in an Orange Empire Conference game.

Kimberly Mancillas had 12 points for Golden West (3-16, 0-7). Roxie Aquino added seven assists and three steals.

MEN’S TENNIS

Mt. San Jacinto 6, Orange Coast 3: The visiting Pirates dropped to 1-1 this season following Friday’s nonconference road contest.
