Ocean View’s Alcaraz, Laguna Beach’s Johnson share Pac 4 League football Offensive Player of the Year award

Ocean View High senior receiver Brandon Alcaraz and Laguna Beach senior quarterback Andrew Johnson have been named Co-Offensive MVPs in the Pac 4 League in football.

Ocean View senior defensive end Josh Roberts was the Co-Lineman of the Year, while Laguna Beach kicker Beck Kesler earned Special Teams Player of the Year honors.

First-team all-league selections included Laguna Beach senior receiver Raul Villalobos, senior cornerback Jack Pigott, junior running back/defensive back Jackson Golden and senior center Sammer Tarazi.

Ocean View senior quarterback Braden Crabtree, senior outside linebacker Jobe Belles, senior running back/linebacker Eric Balbuena, senior lineman Lucio Silva and sophomore running back Anthony Ramirez also earned first-team accolades.

Alcaraz set Ocean View single-season records in catches (69), yards (1,111) and touchdowns (11). He helped the Seahawks go 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the league for second place.

Ocean View lost 60-21 at top-seeded eventual champion El Monte in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 12 playoffs.

Johnson was 140 of 254 passing for 2,351 yards, 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He added six rushing touchdowns for the Breakers (5-5, 1-2 in league), who finished third in the four-team league and failed to advance to the CIF Southern Section Division 12 playoffs.

Roberts finished with 74 tackles, third on the team, as well as team-best totals of 16 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks. The 11 sacks tied a school record.

Kesler, the Breakers’ kicker and punter, made 44 of 45 point-after touchdown attempts and one of four field goals. He averaged 31.8 yards per punt.

Second-team members included Laguna Beach senior receiver Jack Crawford, senior defensive lineman Clay Gershenson, junior running back Tyler Fields and senior receiver/linebacker Connor Fink. Ocean View senior receiver/defensive back Uriel Polo, junior receiver/linebacker Hunter Arce, junior receiver/defensive back Michael Da Rosa and senior defensive end Ethan Hilario were also second-team selections.

Western senior receiver/defensive back Caine Savage earned Pac 4 League MVP honors, while his twin brother, Cassius, also a receiver/defensive back, was the Defensive Player of the Year.

Western senior Danny Walters III earned Co-Lineman of the Year honors with Roberts.
