College Roundup: Vanguard men’s basketball tops Northern British Columbia
Phillip Willis had 12 points for the Vanguard University men’s basketball team in Thursday’s 81-57 home win over the University of Northern British Columbia at the Bill Reynolds Holiday Classic.
Christian Wilson and Kieran Hayward both scored 10 points for Vanguard (9-6), which will play a nonconference game at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Jan. 3.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Vanguard 88, Bethesda 36: Estefania Giner had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Lions in Thursday’s nonconference home game.
Sierra Vaglica and Vanessa Murphy each scored 13 points for Vanguard (7-2), which hosts La Sierra University on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Golden West 70, Copper Mountain 64: Kimberly Mancillas led a balanced Rustlers scoring effort with 12 points in Thursday’s nonconference home game.
Reyna McMorris had 11 points and seven rebounds for Golden West (2-7), and Jackie Navarro scored 10 points.
