High School Roundup: Pacifica Christian Orange County boys’ basketball improves to 2-0 at Stallion Showdown

Houston Mallette finished with 28 points and seven assists, and the Pacifica Christian Orange County High boys’ basketball team beat Notre Dame Riverside 87-50 on Tuesday in a Stallion Showdown game at San Juan Hills High.

Judah Brown had 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for Pacifica Christian (3-1). Josh Sims scored 10 points.

The Tritons continue the Stallion Showdown on Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Santa Margarita, a rematch of the nonleague season opener won 63-53 by Pacifica Christian on Nov. 20.

Laguna Beach 70, Segerstrom 30: Nolan Naess scored 17 points for the Breakers in the nonleague home game Tuesday.

Brooks Hogenauer scored 11 points and Lucas Kravitz had 10 for Laguna Beach (1-1).

Troy 61, Ocean View 46: The Seahawks fell to 1-4 after Tuesday’s nonleague home game.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Corona del Mar 60, Dana Hills 16: Makena Tomlinson had a team-high 12 points for the Sea Kings, who earned their third straight victory on Tuesday in a CdM Tip-off Tournament game.

Haley Esquino scored nine points for CdM (3-1). Dorothy Schwenck and Trasara Alexander had eight points apiece.

CdM hosts Tustin on Wednesday at 6 p.m. as tournament play continues.

Huntington Beach 47, Lakewood 31: Cassidee Kinslow and Marisa Tanga each had 11 points to lead the Oilers on Tuesday in the Downey Tournament.

Huntington Beach (2-0) will play in a tournament semifinal game on Friday.

Montebello Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary 62, Edison 52: Lainey Johnson had 14 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Chargers in the championship game of the Santiago Tournament on Tuesday.

Gwen Ontiveros added 14 points, including four three-pointers for Edison (3-2). Taylor Fullbright was named to the all-tournament team.

Edison plays Sage Hill in the Hawk Holiday Classic at Ocean View High on Monday.

Marina 48, La Quinta 44: Kat Robinson led the Vikings with 25 points and six rebounds in Tuesday’s nonleague game at home.

Malia Kawakubo had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Marina (1-4).

Los Amigos 54, Santa Ana Valley 48: Kathleen Nguyen scored 24 points for the host Lobos on Tuesday in a nonleague game.

Leilani Cooley had 16 points for Los Amigos (3-2).

Loara 43, Ocean View 30: The visiting Seahawks dropped to 1-2 with Tuesday’s nonleague defeat.

Santa Fe 53, Fountain Valley 35: The Barons fell to 1-2 after Tuesday’s nonleague road game.
