College Roundup: UC Irvine women’s soccer loses at Cal State Northridge in overtime
The UC Irvine women’s soccer team lost 1-0 in overtime at Cal State Northridge on Thursday night in a Big West Conference match.
Bethany Fitzsimmons converted a penalty kick in the 98th minute for the Matadors (10-4-3, 4-1 in conference).
Maddie Newsom made four saves for UCI (3-11-1, 2-2-1) and now has 253 career saves, tying Alicia Miller for third in Anteaters history.
UCI hosts Long Beach State on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Vanguard 5, Arizona Christian 0: Ayanna Suarez and Kim Benner each scored two goals to lead the visiting Lions in Thursday’s Golden State Athletic Conference match.
Tess Dodge also scored a goal, and Haley Magana made three saves for Vanguard (8-2-2, 4-1-0 in conference).

Vanguard 2, Arizona Christian 1 (2OT): Miguel Tapia scored in the 109th minute on an assist from Marc Trejo to lead the visiting Lions to victory in Thursday’s Golden State Athletic Conference match.
Kobe Franks scored in the first half for Vanguard (9-4-0, 4-1-0 in conference).
