Corona del Mar High senior attacker Ryan Mix was named the Pacific Coast League MVP after helping the boys’ lacrosse team defend its league title and reach the U.S. Lacrosse Orange County Southern Section Division I championship game.

Mix highlights one of eight players earning first-team laurels from the Sea Kings (18-3), which finished ranked No. 8 in the state by LaxPower.com.

Mix, who’s headed to the University of Notre Dame, led CdM with 80 goals and he added 22 assists. The repeat first-teamer played a vital role to the Sea Kings’ three straight league titles and back-to-back runner-up finishes in the county final.

The other players making the first team were seniors Randall Nelson, Daniel Noto, Blake Burkhart, Alex Mainthow, Donald Dalton, Hugh Russell, and sophomore Michael Keasey.

Nelson finished with 24 goals and 41 assists, while Noto had 21 goals and 23 assists, and Keasey 18 goals and seven assists.

Russell made 136 saves and allowed 3.5 goals per match. He had a save percentage of 64.

CdM players on the second team were senior J.D. Abbott and sophomore Michael Ortlieb.
