Commentary: Councilman Peotter is entitled to express spiritual beliefs
Folks, what is all the fuss about?
Newport Beach Councilman Scott Peotter is who he is. Long before he was elected, he was a man of God. His past reflects who he is now.
He believes in the Bible, which clearly states how God feels about any sexual relationship or lifestyle other than that of a man with a woman (Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13).
God repeats himself in the Bible for emphasis to get his point across. To him these life choices are detestable.
What Peotter lives out, and is not ashamed to say, became more important than a sheet of paper with a seal on it. [The councilman sent an email with the city seal on it to express dissatisfaction with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage.]
Give the man credit for stating his beliefs. You all have the right in this country to express your feelings and choices. So did Peotter.
