Mailbag: Sober-living story points up the curbing of property rights
I want to point out that many attendees of sober-living meetings arrive by bicycle (“Sober-living business loses bid for permit because of parking,” July 22).
I have lived on the peninsula in Newport Beach and experienced vast disregard for private-property owners rights, which have been successfully been curbed in the city.

Theme park is a target for opportunists
The interview with David Koenig on Disneyland (“OC Q&A: How lawsuits have shaped Disneyland,” Weekend section,” July 26) says a lot about our country’s legal system: Anyone can sue anyone else for whatever reason, no matter how absurd or trivial, and the entity with deep pockets is an especially attractive target.
People visiting the park should be cognizant that there can be no 100% guarantee on safety in an adventure park and that one must accept personal responsibility by avoiding foolish acts, as in the case of the teenager who tried to surf Space Mountain.

An exclamation point for Casagrande
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy June Casagrande’s grammar articles. I hope they continue.
