Mailbag: Politicians, police, community need our prayers
In my opinion, our city governments need to start with mutual appreciation, not vicious personal attacks, on either side. I vote for wisdom, economy and brotherly love.
Finding fault is not constructive. Separating evil from people and destroying its base, while freeing our citizens from financial, emotional and legal deprivation, is critical.
Why can’t we start with the power of love and forgiveness, instead of personal attachment, selfishness and animosity?
What about true reform? Individual self-examination and reformation should lead to transformation of character, and it starts with the Golden Rule.
I love Newport Beach and will continue to support and pray for right ideas and actions.
The police chiefs of three local cities attended and asked those of us attending the recent Interfaith Day of Prayer breakfast to prayerfully support our peace-keeping police force. We have common enemies that would like to destroy our beautiful and God-loving communities.
Greed, ego and lust for power need to be ushered out, and wisdom, economy and brotherly love welcomed in.
The interfaith meeting ended with the song, “Let There be Peace on Earth.” Thank you for listening for right ideas that will heal the broken hearts in Orange County.

Limit jetpacks to 4 days a week
Since it appears the Newport Beach City Council will not heed the Harbor Commission’s recommendation to ban jetpacks, and as I will be unable to attend the next meeting on May 26, here are some suggestions in the spirit of true compromise regarding how the city regulates water jet flights in our precious jewel, which is Newport Harbor.
With seven days per week, jetpacks could be allowed four days for their noise, leaving three for peace and quiet. Rather than continual operation at the North-West small turning basin, this nuisance could be spread out.
Perhaps rumble for Lido in this turning basin one day a week, and then roar another day of the week at Marina Park, grumble a day near the bridge to Back Bay, and lastly growl near the jetty. Affected residents could plan to be elsewhere on jetpack day, or tolerate the jackhammer noise knowing it’s only for a day.
Hours could also be limited. Since Jetpack America is being granted a monopoly on Orange County’s business, they could charge more per flight to make up for these restrictions.

`Deflategate’ a reminder about character
The childish deflating of footballs and the more serious evasion of responsibility present a good lesson . Evasions upon being caught are a defeat of oneself and one’s reputation, whereas an honestly earned accomplishment would be a personal reward.
