Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Brookhurst Street

A woman suffered life-threatening head injuries Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle in Fountain Valley, according to police.

Jessica Ayon, 27, of Fountain Valley, was struck by a Lexus IS350 around 10 p.m. while walking near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue.

Authorities said Ayon was near the curb on Brookhurst — just outside of a crosswalk — when she was hit by the Lexus, which was traveling northbound.

Ayon was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center. Police had no further information about her status.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor for the driver, police said. The incident is still under investigation.
