Rackauckas seeks fifth term as D.A.
Orange County Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas on Thursday filed the necessary paperwork to seek a fifth term.
The county’s top prosecutor also recently raised $418,000 at a gala at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach attended by hundreds who turned out to show their support, according to a news release sent late Thursday.
“I am very humbled to have this kind of strong support from so many different segments of the Orange County community,” Rackauckas said in the release.
He has picked up endorsements from Michelle Steel, California Board of Equalization vice chairwoman, who is running for the District 2 supervisor seat; Rep. Ed Royce (R-Fullerton); Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Costa Mesa); county Sheriff Sandra Hutchens; supervisors Shawn Nelson, Janet Nguyen and Pat Bates; assemblymen Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach) and Don Wagner (R-Irvine); Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Scott Baugh; and former Democratic Party of Orange County Chairman Frank Barbaro, according to the release.
Rackauckas was running unopposed as of Friday afternoon, according to the Orange County Registrar of Voters website.
