View possible designs for crime victims monument
Five possible designs were unveiled this week for a crime victims monument to be erected in Irvine’s Mason Regional Park.
The Orange County Board of Supervisors and OC Parks on Wednesday presented the designs, selected from a group of 59, at the Old Orange County Courthouse in Santa Ana, according to a news release.
Renderings from Ivan Juarez, Jason Zerafa, Joaquin Ochoa, Man-Foon Chu and Maria Cjevic are available for the public to view until March 20. To view and comment on the five designs online, visit bos.ocgov.com/cvm/index.htm.
The tribute “aims to promote hope and healing, offer remembrance for those touched by crime [and] give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves,” according to the release.
“Crime victims deserve a space for solitude, reflection, dignity and peace to honor their loved ones who were afflicted by senseless human acts of selfishness, anger and evil,” District 3 Supervisor Todd Spitzer said in the release.
The final winning design is expected to be picked in April, with construction on the monument starting next year.
