Laguna Beach police identified the pedestrian who was hit by a car on Laguna Canyon Road earlier this week, authorities said.

Shahram Mokarami-Tehrani, 51, remains in critical condition at Mission Hospital Mission Viejo, Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email Thursday.

Mokarami-Tehrani, whose last listed address was a Corona del Mar P.O. box, was found lying in the road early Monday morning, an apparent victim of a hit-and-run, according to police. Mokarami-Tehrani was recently staying at the Alternative Sleeping Location, an overnight emergency shelter in Laguna Canyon, authorities said.
