Steel reports $630,000 in campaign money
Michelle Steel has raised more than $630,000 in her campaign for election to the Orange County Board of Supervisors, an amount expected to be well ahead of what her opponents have received, her campaign announced in a news release.
Steel, the vice chairwoman of the California Board of Equalization, seeks the District 2 seat on the five-member board.
Congressional candidate John Moorlach, who holds the seat, will be termed out in January.
Although Steel’s announcement came ahead of the Friday deadline for reports to be filed, Steel is expected to have an “overwhelming lead” over her opponents, according to the news release.
Steel faces Huntington Beach City Councilman Joe Carchio, former Huntington Beach Mayor Don Hansen, Assemblyman Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa) and Coast Community College District Trustee Jim Moreno.
Only Mansoor and Moreno had filed records available online as of Friday morning.
Mansoor reported receiving $39,110 to date, while Moreno reported $29,057.
The current reporting period covers fundraising activity through Dec. 31.
