Mansoor gets mayors’ endorsements
State Assemblyman Allan Mansoor announced Friday that he’s picked up two endorsements in his run for Orange County supervisor, from Costa Mesa Mayor Jim Righeimer and Huntington Beach Mayor Matthew Harper.
Mansoor, a former Costa Mesa mayor, is seeking the District 2 supervisor seat held by John Moorlach, who will be termed out and is now running for Congress.
“Allan Mansoor has experience working at the local level,” Righeimer said in a prepared statement. “I’m proud to continue Allan’s legacy of reform in Costa Mesa and am looking forward to working with him at the county level.”
Added Harper, “Allan Mansoor has a strong understanding of our coastal communities. He is accessible and ready to work with local communities on local issues.”
Mansoor, a Republican, represents the 74th Assembly District.
In the supervisor race, Mansoor is facing state Board of Equalization Vice Chairwoman Michelle Steel, Huntington Beach City Councilman Joe Carchio, former Huntington Beach Mayor Don Hansen and Coast Community College District Trustee Jim Moreno.
District 2 includes Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and portions of Fountain Valley.
