Bryn M. Johnson October 14, 1949 - January 8, 2014
It is with great sadness we announce that Bryn Milja Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on January 8, 2014 in Santa Cruz, California at the age of 64. Born on October 14, 1949 in Reno, Nevada to Julia M. Wikstrom and Richard E. O’Shaughnessy, she spent her early childhood living in Jackson, California among the foothills of the Sierra-Nevada. Later, she graduated from Troy High School in Fullerton, California in 1968 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from California State University, Long Beach in 1973. A lifelong lover of nature, particularly the mountains and the sea, she lived in the foothills of the northern Sierra-Nevada and on the Southern and Central California coasts. Bryn was an ardent feminist, an avid reader, and a lover of poetry, dance, and other art forms. She was married to the late David P. Johnson of Garden Grove, California for 38 years, and is survived by her son Ian Hendricks, her grandson Alexander Hendricks, her two sisters Tam O’Shaughnessy and Kim Holguin, and her nephew Dallas and grand-nephew Dylan Holguin as well as other relatives and many friends. She will always be missed and always be remembered for her sweet smile and open and adventurous spirit.
