Annual Chapman University Economic Forecast is Wednesday

For the business community, economic trend watchers and curious parties, it’s that time of the year.

The annual Chapman University Economic Forecast is having its midyear update conference Wednesday morning at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, where economists will discuss how the predictions for 2013, which were announced in November, are churning up in the real world.

Esmael Adibi and James Doti are the guest speakers.

Adibi heads the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research at Chapman. Doti is president of the private university in Orange.

Continental breakfast and registration begin at 7:30 a.m., with the conference starting an hour later. A question-and-answer session is at 10 a.m.

Some of predictions for this year regarding the state and local economy were weak job growth, as well as some improvements for consumer spending and home prices.

On the national level, it was said there will be a slow but steady economic recovery amid an affordable housing market that’s in short supply.
