A gun-wielding thief took $290 worth of prescription medication from a woman after she left a Laguna Beach drug store last week, Laguna Beach police said.

The uninjured woman, a 27-year-old Laguna Beach resident, came to the police station Tuesday to report an armed robbery outside Laguna Sunset Drug at 944 Glenneyre St. at 3:30 p.m. May 23, Capt. Jason Kravetz said in an email.

The woman had gone to the pharmacy to get her prescriptions filled, Kravetz said. When she returned to her vehicle, the thief showed a gun in his waistband, told her he was robbing her and grabbed the medication.

The woman said the man who robbed her was an acquaintance, according to Kravetz.

The man fled in a car, though police did not say what type.

Police also couldn’t specify what kinds of medication were stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
