DUI checkpoint nets 6 arrests
Police arrested six drivers on suspicion of driving drunk at a checkpoint over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
From 8 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, Costa Mesa police held a checkpoint at Newport Boulevard and 17th Street.
A total of 2,539 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and police screened 439, police said.
Police administered 21 field sobriety tests and 11 drivers were arrested or cited for driving without a license or with a suspended or revoked license, according to police.
Six vehicles were stored or impounded.
