JUDY KEARNS BECKNER
April 7, 1929 – February 21, 2013
Judy Kearns Beckner passed away peacefully in her home on February 21, 2013. She was predeceased in death by her husband Robert Kearns, and her second husband Charles Beckner. Judy is survived by her sons, Kevin (Allison), Jeff Kearns, and Greg Kearns, and two grandchildren Bobby and Katie Kearns. She also leaves behind her sister, Marcia Powers, who resides in Dayton, WY, and step-daughters, Susan McDougal, Washington and Abbe Dewitt, China.
Judy graduated from Pasadena College and attended University of Nevada, where she received her teaching credentials.
In l952 she married Robert Kearns and raised their three sons in Newport Beach. They enjoyed family trips south of the border, skiing and boating. The family was always active in church activities with Christ as the center and the guiding light of the family.
Judy loved children and was a teacher for many years at Carden Hall, a private school in Newport Beach. She was also very involved with many local organizations, such as Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Orange County Society for Crippled Children, Catholic Women’s Council of Lady Mount Carmel, Project Independence, and ASPCA.
In l990, Judy became reacquainted with an old friend, Charles Beckner, and they married soon after. Judy and Charles loved traveling, walking on the beach and golfing in La Quinta. They shared many loving years together before Charles’ passing.
Judy was a loving mother, grandmother and loyal friend who will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Remember “I have not left you for good, just gone ahead a little. Someday we’ll smile together.”
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Pacific View Memorial Park.
