UCI police arrest bike theft suspects
UC Irvine police arrested two people allegedly connected to bicycle thefts on campus Wednesday morning.
Officers spotted Audie Rayvon Richmond, 30, and Jessie Castaneda, 28, with several bicycles in a residential part of UCI, according to a news release from campus police.
When officers investigated, they determined the bikes had been stolen from nearby campus housing, police said.
Richmond, a Los Angeles resident, was booked in Orange County Jail on suspicion of receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and outstanding warrants.
Castaneda, a Santa Ana resident, was booked in Orange County Jail on suspicion of receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools and outstanding warrants.
Police said more than 60 bicycles have been stolen at UCI in recent months.
