Halloween bash for Newport Shores
Newport Shores was in full Halloween spirit Wednesday night as residents decked the neighborhood out with spooky, Hollywood-esque props.
The Newport Shores House of Horrors, which has been put on for nine years by David McKinnon and his family and friends, featured zombies, dead people and operating room with mad scientist Ryan Somers. Teenagers from the community also volunteered to scare attendees for the evening.
McKinnon said that the idea started after a Halloween party at work. .
“I decided to race home to set up the props and scare the heck out of my neighborhood,” he said. “It’s grown every year since then.”
This is the first time that the maze was presented in the Newport Shores Clubhouse. Previously, it was shown at McKinnon’s home.
The clubhouse was transformed into several haunting zones, including a freaky clown area, an insane asylum and a graveyard.
McKinnon said he enjoys putting the event on for his community every year, and it is only open to Newport Shores residents.
