Police looking for armed robbery suspects
Costa Mesa police are searching for two suspects who made off with about $800 after assaulting and threatening two victims, authorities said Saturday.
At about 9:06 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at an apartment in the 2800 block of Hickory Place, according to a news release.
The victims told police that about 9 p.m. they heard pounding on the side of their home and front door. When one victim opened the door, two masked men forced their way in.
One suspect forced a victim to the ground at gun point, then hit him in the back of the head with the gun, according to the release. The other victim was hit in the head and face multiple times and dragged from his bedroom.
The suspects threatened to kill the victims if they did not give them money, police said.
Witnesses said the suspects drove away in a black 2004 two-door Honda Accord, according to the release. Both suspects are described as 5-foot-8 Latinos.
One weighs about 145 pounds, is 23 to 25 years old, and has a glass right eye and black spiky hair, according to the release. He was wearing a plaid gray shirt and black pants, and carried a long black revolver.
The other suspect weighs 220 pounds, is 30 years old, has short black hair and was wearing a green T-shirt, according to the release.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital where they received treatment for minor to moderate injuries, none of which were life-threatening.
