Obituary for Jacqueline Joy Humphries

Jacqueline Joy Humphries, of Newport Beach, California, passed away on June 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Glendale, California on October 24, 1927, she was one of three children of L.Z. and Evelyn Taylor. Jackie was proud to be a fourth generation Californian.

Jackie and her family moved to Newport Beach when she was ten years old. After graduating from Newport Harbor High School in 1945, she met and worked with her beloved late husband, J.C. Humphries, in their jewelry business, J.C. Humphries Jewelers. Jackie worked in the jewelry store until she started a family with her husband. After J.C. died in 1996, Jackie managed their commercial real estate properties, with the assistance of her daughter Kathy, as President of J.C. Humphries Enterprises.

A loving mother, she is survived by her daughters, Kathy Jo Humphries, Robin Joy Humphries, and Julie Anne Kalyvas; her grandsons Alexander and Zachary Kalyvas; son-in-law, James R. Kalyvas; and brother Lee Taylor.

Jackie supported a variety of charitable causes advancing health care treatments and animal protection. She was a Major Underwriter of Circle 1000, Hoag Hospital Foundation, and was an active member for many years in Harbor Key, Child Guidance Center of Orange County.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 23, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Chapel at Pacific View Memorial Park; 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California. Visitation will be on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Pacific View. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States.
