CdM streets to close for 5K on Saturday

The Newport Beach Police Department will enforce temporary road closures from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday for the 31st annual Corona del Mar Scenic 5K, according to a news release.

Streets south of East Coast Highway will be closed or have limited access before and after the race, including:

•All “flower” streets between Avocado Avenue and Poppy Avenue

•First Avenue between Goldenrod Avenue and Avocado Avenue

•Bayside Drive between Marguerite Avenue and Begonia Avenue

•Seaview Avenue between Fernleaf Avenue and Poppy Avenue

•Ocean Boulevard between Fernleaf Avenue and Poppy Avenue

Last-minute registration for the event begins at 6 a.m. and is $40 for the 5K Run, $30 for the 2-Mile Walk and $20 for the 1K Kid’s Dolphin Dash. Parking is available in the Corona del Mar State Beach parking lot.

The Men’s 5K starts at 7:55 a.m., Women’s 5K at 8:20 a.m., 2-Mile Fun Walk at 8:45 a.m. and 1K Kid’s Dolphin Dash at 9 a.m., according to the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce website.
