Loretta “Lori” “Lily” Scaramuzzo Rich, aged 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20th, 2012, in Whittier, California.

Loretta was born on December 3rd, 1928, in Locust Valley, Long Island. She was the youngest child born to Peter and Carmela Scaramuzzo.

After moving to Newport Beach with her husband Dudley, who was the dispatch manager for the Daily Pilot, they raised their children in the dream house they built together. Eventually they purchased Bob & Pat Liquor and renamed it Lori’s Liquors. Years later, they decided to retire and sold their business. After a couple of years, they moved to Oceanside to be close to family.
Loretta was preceded by her husband Dudley Bell Rich Jr. and her siblings Angelo, Helen, Colombia and Laura.

She is survived by her 5 sons: Ronald Maxson, Greg (Melissa), Dudley, Alan (April) and Chris, as well as 1 step daughter, Leslie.
Loretta was also a very proud grandmother to Shana Maxson Clark (Brad), Andrew, Adam (Emyr), Eric, Michael, Olivia, Daryn, Sylvie and Bennett. She was great grandmother to Rocco, Eva and Annie. How she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren!

For the last two years, Loretta was happily living in Apple Valley at Rock Spring Retirement Community. She loved living there and spending time with her many new friends.
Loretta touched many people’s lives. Never short of smiles and encouragement, I know everyone who knew Loretta will miss her and hold her close to their hearts.
