Robert Anthony Bissell
1955-2012

Robert Anthony Bissell (Bob) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Friday March 16, 2012 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was 56 years old. Bob was born in Pasadena, California on August 3, 1955 to George and Laurene “Lari” Bissell.

Bob grew up on Lido Isle in Newport Beach, enjoying summers sailing on Newport Harbor, body surfing at the beach, and taking family trips to Catalina Island. He attended local schools and graduated from Newport Harbor High School.

A third-generation Trojan, Bob graduated from the University of Southern California in 1983 with a degree in International Relations. Bob married Leanne Reed the love of his life, in 1984 and together they have three children, Catherine “Katie,” Grant and Annie.

An avid world traveler, a restorer of classic cars, a sports fanatic, especially for his beloved Trojan Football. Bob truly lived his life to the fullest and entertained everyone along the way.

Bob enjoyed a successful 26-year career with the Boeing Company. He was involved in the development of the MD-11 Tri Jet and the C-17 Transport Aircraft. He also held other job titles such as soccer coach, dance recital audience member, boat captain, travel companion, and best friend.

Robert is survived by his wife, Leanne, and three children: Catherine (26), Grant (21), and Annie (18). He is also survived by his mother Laurene and four siblings: Terry, Tom and Bill Bissell and Katie Hazen; two nieces: Megan Hazen and Jana Reed and five nephews: Brian, Matt and Tom Bissell, Brett and Joey Reed. He was preceded in death by his father and best friend George Bissell.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday March 30 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 1441 W. Balboa Blvd, Newport Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute.
