Judy Wells Stafford passed away November 26 at her home in Palm Desert, Calif.

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Judy was raised in Billings, Mont., and later Boise, Idaho where she graduated from Borah High School in 1960. She then moved with her family to San Marino, Calif., where she attended Pasadena City College and graduated from San Diego State University. In 1967 she married Donald Solsby with whom she had two sons. Prior to the birth of her children she was a teacher in Los Angeles-area public schools. The couple lived in San Marino until 1979 when they moved to Newport Beach.

Judy was an active parent in local schools and served as a volunteer with the Junior League of Orange County and P.E.O. International. She also maintained a small interior design business.
In 1993, Judy married Thomas Stafford. In 2006 the couple retired, moving from Newport Beach to Palm Desert, where they were active members of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church.

Judy is survived by her second husband, Thomas Stafford, her two sons Christian Solsby (Anneke van Der Mast) of Portland, Ore., and Jeffrey Solsby (Michelle St. Clair) of Alexandria, Va., as well as her five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held January 7 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Palm Desert, Calif.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
