Police: Xanax linked to motel gang rape
Four young men accused of raping two women at a motel on Halloween are in police custody in Buena Park.
Four days after the alleged incident occurred, police arrested a 17-year-old boy along with three of his friends: 20-year-old Sung Park of Norwalk and 19-year-olds Hyeon Ju of Anaheim and Hojoon Lee of Irvine.
Police said the victims met the suspects at the Crescent Motel in the early morning hours on Oct. 31.
One of the suspects was acquaintances with one of the victims and had convinced the pair to stop by their motel room.
Upon arrival, the victims were served alcoholic beverages and after consuming the drinks, the victims said they quickly became incapacitated and told police they had a vague recollection of being raped by all four men.
After extensive interviews with the suspects, police said all four men confessed to detectives that they had mixed the drinks with multiple Xanax pills.
According to authorities, one of the suspects who obtained the pills worked at a pharmacy.
Three of the suspects were being held at the Buena Park Jail on $300,000 bail as of Nov. 4 and face charges of rape.
The juvenile suspect was taken to juvenile hall and is being held without bail.
