Council OKs payment to keep RDA intact
The City Council on Tuesday approved paying the state $1.4 million to keep its Redevelopment Agency intact after legislation in Sacramento passed earlier this year moved to dissolve the boards statewide. Each RDA has to pay money to the state to continue operating.
Chief Executive Tom Hatch announced Public Services Director Peter Naghavi has been reassigned as Costa Mesa’s assistant chief executive after an initial recruitment for the position didn’t find any viable candidates. The city will restart the recruitment process, he said. City Engineer Ernesto Munoz has been temporarily moved into Naghavi’s position as head of public services.
The council also approved naming The Farm after former mayor and Costa Mesa institution Jack Hammett.
FOR THE RECORD:
This story has been corrected to not associate The Farm with TeWinkle Park, which is separate.
