Follow Coastline Pilot’s staff on Twitter
Although the Coastline Pilot arrives on newsracks and in the Los Angeles Times every Friday, it’s available daily on its website, CoastlinePilot.com, and social media channels Facebook and Twitter.
Coastline Pilot’s Facebook, at facebook.com/coastlinepilot, is consistently updated with news stories regarding its cities — Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo. It also has a feed from our O.C. Now blog that gives you the latest news on the region.
Stories published on coastlinepilot.com are immediately sent to Coastline Pilot’s Twitter, @coastlinepilot, also another way the newsroom can interact with the community. Readers can respond to news, ask for updates or give news tips.
Coastline Pilot also will now include the Twitter handles of writers and editors as well. The Twitter handles will be published along with reporters’ email addresses beneath stories. Freelance writers, such as Barbara Diamond, will use the @coastlinepilot account, where most of the newspapers stories are tweeted.
The newspaper and its parent company are making social media a new priority.
“We want to reach our readers wherever they are — on their phones, computers, tablets and, of course, their front porches,” said John Canalis, editor of Los Angeles Times Community News South, which oversees the Coastline Pilot. “And now we can.”
The formatting follows the approach used by Los Angeles Times Sports, which includes handles with its staff-written stories, Canalis said.
“We of course encourage readers to follow the entire newspaper, but we also know the community has favorite writers and we wanted to give them the option of keeping up with our talented staff,” Canalis said.
Editorial staff, such as reporters and editors, can be followed at:
